Servers
A server is the glue that holds your entire technology structure in place. The other computers in your office certainly have their own jobs, but they depend on the quality and stability of the server you choose.
There are two types of servers...dedicated servers and shared servers, or "server/workstations". A dedicated server is not used by staff members at all...generally they are located in a server closet and are not easily accessible. Why? Simply because they are not meant to be used by people...but by the other computers on the network.
However, a shared server does have it's place. If you are starting a new dental office, a shared server can often be used to help keep technology costs under control as your new practice builds. The typical role of a shared server is that of an administrative workstation.
